9 Pin No-Tap Tournaments

In an effort to generate more prize funds, charity donations, and to offset operational expenses, we'll periodically host a 9 Pin No-Tap Tournament at Waveland Bowl.  And 9 Pin No-Tap is just plain fun!

Our event is a handicap event, meaning you can bowl a scratch plus handicap total of well over 300!

All events start at 8:30am with registration and with bowling beginning at 9:30am.

What Side Pots, if any, are you participating in?

The first 9 Pin No-Tap tournament is Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Waveland Bowl.  Registration is at 9am with bowling starting at 9:30am.  The tournament fee is $30.

Side Pots

Optional side pots will be available at each 9 Pin No-Tap Tournament depending on interest and volunteer availability. A portion of each side pot's entry fee goes to help the Chi-Town Classic's fundraising goals.

Participants will earn a share for each 300 game bowled, natural or 9 pin. The jackpot will be split amongst the shares.

300 Game Jackpot

Participants will be randomly placed in a bracket with the top total handicap score moving forward.  After the 3rd game we will have a bracket winner.

Brackets

Participants will be randomly matched with another participating bowler and the doubles with the top total handicap score series will place.  

Blind Doubles

Participants will bowl one ball per frame. 9 Pin No-Tap is in effect. The lowest score is eliminated until one person remains. 

Last Man Standing

  • Your handicap will be 90% of 230.

    • Example: entering average of 220 is calculated as (230-220)*0.9 = 9

    • Example: entering average of 180 is calculated as (230-180)*0.9 = 45

    • Example: entering average of 100 is calculated as (230-100)*0.9 = 117

  • Your entering average will be:

    • Highest current certified league average of 21 games or more; if doesn't apply, then,

    • Highest certified league average or composite average of 21 games or more from 2023-2024 season shown on bowl.com; if doesn't apply, then,

    • Handicap is 90% of 230.

  • 300 Jackpot

    • One entry per bowler, winner(s) take all.

    Last Person Standing

    • One entry per bowler, winner take all.

    Brackets

    • One (1) entry per every eight (8) entries, which is one (1) entry per Brackets page. A page has eight (8) slots.

    Blind Doubles

    • One (1) entry per every eight (8) entries, which is one (1) entry per Blind Doubles page.  A page has four (4) teams or eight (8) bowlers.

  • The CHIC 9 Pin No-Tap Tournaments are a fundraising effort with proceeds going to the annual Chi-Town Classic Bowling Tournament. As such, CHIC ("The House") will keep a portion of most pots, most of the time.

     

    300 Jackpot

    • Winner(s) take all. Payout dependent on number of paid entries and number of shareholders.

    Last Person Standing

    • As the name implies, winner take all.

    Brackets

    • Each bracket pays out $25 to the winner. There are no additional payouts.

    Blind Doubles

    • Payout is determined by number of entries.  Fewer entries result in a single team payout, more entries result in several places being paid out. Consult the Blind Double Payout Schedule.
